Difference Between Power Batteries And Energy Storage Batteries

Jul 19, 2023Leave a message

1. Different application scenarios
Power batteries are mainly used for transportation vehicles such as new energy vehicles, electric bicycles, and electric trains, while energy storage batteries are mostly used as batteries for renewable energy sources such as solar power, wind power, and hydropower.
2. Different cycle life
At present, among mainstream power batteries, the service life of ternary lithium battery is generally 1200 charge discharge cycles, and that of lithium iron phosphate battery is 2000 cycles. Due to the more frequent charging and discharging of energy storage batteries, the requirement for cycle life is higher. Generally, the service life of energy storage batteries is 3500 to 5000 charging and discharging cycles.
3. Different volumes
Power batteries are mostly used in new energy vehicles, and the volume of a single battery is equivalent to the appearance of dozens or twenty carpets stacked together. Generally speaking, energy storage batteries consist of multiple battery modules forming a large module, followed by multiple energy storage batteries with a volume close to that of a container.
4. Different cost structures
In energy storage systems, battery costs account for 60%, energy storage inverters account for 20%, energy management systems account for 10%, and battery management systems account for 5%. In power batteries, the cost of battery cells alone accounts for as much as 80%, with the remaining 20% being battery management systems, structural components, accessories, etc.
